Quainton Carpets has been a family run business since 1972. We supply a full range of carpets, underlay, felt, and luxury vinyl tiles (LVT). Our service is second to none and we pride ourself on high quality products and carpet fitting service.
Mark Burnham has now taken over the business from his father Ray. Since school Mark has been training as a fitter and has worked around the world including Singapore and New York, fitting carpets and flooring.
He now manages all projects in the Aylesbury Vale and surrounding areas to ensure the best possible customer experience.

How long does it take to lay a carpet?
For a standard single room, installation typically takes 1 to 2 hours. Fitting carpets across an entire house usually takes a full day (6–8 hours), depending on room shapes, stairs, and furniture moving.
Do I need to replace the underlay when buying a new carpet?
Yes, in almost all cases. Old underlay wears down unevenly over time and loses its cushioning capacity. Installing a new carpet over worn underlay can reduce the carpet’s lifespan by up to 30% and may void the manufacturer’s warranty.
What prep work needs to be done before the fitters arrive?
Clear the room: Remove all light furniture, personal items, and breakables. Vacuum: Clean the old carpet or subfloor thoroughly before fitting. Check doors: Ensure room doors have enough clearance for the new carpet thickness. Secure subfloors: Fix any squeaky floorboards or lay plywood over uneven floorboards.
4. Should carpet be installed before or after painting?
Paint first. Complete all painting, decorating, and skirting board touch-ups before the carpet is fitted. Allow paint to dry for at least 48 hours to avoid paint transferring to the new carpet or fitters accidentally smudging wet trim.
